Belvision 'Tintin' General Discussion Empty Belvision 'Tintin' General Discussion

Post by Rozza Wed Mar 02, 2011 8:19 am

Before Ellipse-Nelvana, there was Belvision, a tall and proud animation studio who created the first cartoon adaptations of the Tintin albums. However these versions have been disliked by many a generation of enthusiasts who believed them to differ entirely from the originals.

A DVD boxset was released a few years ago containing The Calculus Affair, Prisoners of the Sun and Mystery of Shark Lake.

Only a handful of Belvision 'Tintin' episodes remain around, circulating the interwebs and so on.

What are your views on the Belvision series?

What are/were your expectations on the adaptations?

At a stretch, what do you like and what don't you like about Belvision?

I actually have this box-set, along with the Elipse/Nelvana complete series. The voice acting for me isn't the best, but they are still watchable. I'm not too keen on the musical number in Shark Lake, though (the one about the donkey). That was sort of pointless and a bit Disney-ish.

Belvision 'Tintin' General Discussion Empty Belvision's Tintin and the Temple of the Sun

Post by Rianna Lauren Tue Sep 06, 2011 3:14 am

One of the Tintin movies produced by Belvision was an adaptation of Seven Crystal Balls and Prisoners of the Sun. The movie, Tintin and the Temple of the Sun, wasn't so bad, in my personal opinion. That is, compared to Lake of Sharks or Belvision's series itself.

Haven't seen it? Thanks to our wonderful lovely moderator Rozza, you can. Very Happy [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Opinions and comments, go!

Ah, that reminds me. Rozza couldn't help playing around and added a flashy message on the scene with Zorino and the princess lady girl person. It's nothing big, just letting you all know, that's all. (It made me ROFLMFAO. She's a genius.)

It took me seven years to find the original Belvisions on VHS. I'm only glad I was able to share them with you, Rianna.

Belvision 'Tintin' General Discussion Empty Re: Belvision 'Tintin' General Discussion

As a boy growing up in the New York City area in the late 1960s, the Belvision series was my introduction to Tintin. At the time, I thought they were great (especially my favorite- Objective Moon)! Now, being able to compare them to the books and the Nelvana series, one can see the differences. Still, they were very enjoyable.

Hi, sorry, we're in the process of moving the videos from YouTube to Dailymotion. I just updated the original post with the new link. They're not all up yet, but keep an eye out for new uploads there and we will post the individual links once they're all sorted. Thank you, and sorry for the inconvenience!
