There were already two live-action movies made about Tintin. Has anyone else seen them? I have them on DVD. One is fairly rubbish (The Blue Oranges) but The Golden Fleece was great.

I prefer Golden Fleece as well. They're both not exactly perfect or brilliant or anything, but they're great, and JP Talbot was lovely as Tintin. :3

There's something very nostalgic about the films. I like watching them before bed because they're so simple and cute. Also, JP gets his kit off in Fleece. Mmmm, JP 50 years ago.

I haven't seen Blue Oranges but Golden Fleece was rather average. I can see why the new Tintin wasn't made live-action, it just looks silly and quaint here. JP looks the part but is not a good actor. On the plus side, he pulls off the physical action side of Tintin and the localities are interesting and detailed. It's charming but not the least bit suspenseful.

There's something about both films that I admire. Sure, they're alien stories like a certain Lake of Sharks but they do have a Herge feel to them in the story premise and film style with their own quirks just like any album in the canon.
